Carlos Bocanegra signs for Rangers

Scottish giants Rangers have completed the signing of defender Carlos Bocanegra from Saint Etienne late last night.

The SPL champions were keen to add a new defender to the squad after Madjid Bougherra made a switch to Lekhwiya.

Boss Ally McCoist was desperate to wrap up the deal for the USA international before the 11pm signing deadline set by UEFA.

The Gers managed to do so and have announced the deal on their official website late last night.

The experienced defender had one year left on his deal with Saint Etienne, but has decided to join the SPL champions and signed a three-year deal at Ibrox.

The 32-year-old should go straight into the Rangers squad for the Europa League game against Maribor and is likely to appear in the starting line-up.
