Marouane Chamakh’s agent has dismissed the possibility the out-of-favour Arsenal forward will rejoin Bordeaux at the end of the season.

The Moroccan striker has found first-team opportunities difficult to come by this season at the Emirates and admitted during an interview over the weekend he would be open to a return to the Stade Chaban-Delmas.

But the player’s representative, Pierre Frelot, claims while Chamakh is likely to quit Arsenal at the end of the season, he will not be moving back to France.

“His short-term goal is the African Cup of Nations with Morocco, and then to finish the season at Arsenal,” Frelot told Sud-Ouest.

“Then there will be an important choice to make, but he does not intend to return to France.”

Chamakh joined Arsenal on a free transfer from Bordeaux in May 2010, but despite making a positive start to life in north London, his form dipped dramatically during the second half of last season.
