Bristol City trounced Crystal Palace 4-1 at Ashton Gate to record their first win of the season, while Blackpool overcame Leeds on Tuesday.

City had lost to Nottingham Forest in their season opener but claimed all three points thanks to goals from Ryan Taylor, Martyn Woolford, Jon Stead and Albert Adomah.

The hosts opened the scoring after nine minutes when Taylor smashed home a rebound and they doubled their advantage three minutes later when Woolford intercepted the ball from Peter Ramage before lifting the ball over the oncoming Julian Speroni.

Stead made it 3-0 just before the hour mark when he converted a penalty, which he had earned.

Palace pulled a goal back with 15 minutes left courtesy of a Kagisho Dikagcoi strike, however Adomah scored City’s fourth inside the final eight minutes.

Blackpool made it two wins from two after producing a late comeback at home to Leeds.

Leeds hit the front in the 16th minute through defender Tom Lees and the visitors looked on track for maximum points.

However, French striker Nouha Dicko tapped in from close range with 15 minutes remaining before speedster Matt Phillips netted the decisive goal for Ian Holloway’s men five minutes later.

Meanwhile, Sheffield Wednesday recorded a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Birmingham City.

Wednesday’s Reda Johnson and recent signing Rodri were recipients of two errors from England goalkeeper Jack Butland.

Nikola Zigic reduced the deficit for the visitors on 78 minutes before Jermaine Johnson put the result beyond doubt in the final minutes.

In other results on Tuesday, Wolves claimed their first win of the season with a 3-1 win at home to Barnsley, Charlton Athletic edged Leicester City 2-1, Ipswich left it late to win 1-0 at Watford, while Brighton and Cardiff City played out a goalless draw.

Bolton Wanderers netted two second-half goals to account for Derby County 2-0, Huddersfield Town shared the points with Nottingham Forest in a 1-1 draw, Millwall prevailed 2-1 at Peterborough and Middlesbrough dispatched Burnley 3-2.
