Chelsea and Arsenal battling for Farfan; Roma agree to sign Serbian wonderkid

Chelsea and Arsenal battling for Farfan

Schalke star Jefferson Farfan is followed by English giants Chelsea and Arsenal, Peruvian newspaper Trome reports.

The 27-year-old is free to speak to interested clubs as his contract at Veltins Arena is set to expire in the summer.

Farfan was offered a new bumper deal at Schalke, but he rejected a contract extension and is now set to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Peruvian newspaper Trome claims that Chelsea and Arsenal have already tabled offers and the English giants are awaiting a response from the player’s representatives.

Inter Milan and several Russian Premier League clubs are also showing interest, so we could see a real bidding war for the player’s services.

The Peruvian has just returned into action after recovering from a torn ligament, having played 45 minutes in the 1-1 draw with Mainz.

Farfan has featured in just 11 Bundesliga games this season and managed to score 2 goals in the process.

Roma agree to sign Serbian wonderkid

Roma have agreed to sign Red Star midfielder Filip Jankovic, Serbian daily Press has revealed.

The 17-year-old is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Serbia and is already part of the senior squad at Marakana.

The highly regarded midfielder signed a professional contract with the Serbian giants just few days ago, but it now looks as though he could leave the club next winter.

Serbian newspaper Press claims that Roma have reached an agreement with Red Star chiefs to sign Jankovic for €3 million in January 2013.

Namely, the player turns 18 in January 2013 and that is when he is expected to complete his move to Roma.

Jankovic has already showed glimpses of his incredible potential despite playing just several games for the senior side this season.

Carlos Vela eager to stay at Real Sociedad

Mexican forward Carlos Vela reveals that he would like to stay at Real Sociedad even after his loan spell ends in May.

Despite being touted as a huge potential, the 22-year-old never quite managed to get a decent run in the side at the Emirates.

Vela completed loan spells at Salamanca, Osasuna and West Bromwich and is spending the current season on loan at Real Sociedad.

The player explains that he is enjoying his time at Anoeta and that he doesn’t plan to return to Arsenal.

“I would stay at Real,” Vela told El Diario Vasco. “I am happy and the people support me.

“I owe Arsenal affection and gratitude for the opportunity that they gave me, but I was not happy there and this affected my work.

“It was hard day to day and, when it came to training, I was thinking about going home. Here, however, I am happy and have made good friends.”

Vela is finally playing regular football and he has scored 3 goals and made 4 assists in 18 La Liga games this season.
