Chelsea readying €35 million bid for Sergio Ramos; Schalke sack Felix Magath

Chelsea readying €35 million bid for Sergio Ramos

Chelsea are preparing a summer bid for Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos, according to AS.

After splashing out on Fernando Torres and David Luiz in January, Carlo Ancelotti is eager to continue the process of rebuilding the team next summer.

The Italian sees Ramos as an important piece of the puzzle and Chelsea are reportedly ready to offer €35 million for the Real Madrid star.

The Blues would offer the Spaniard a five-year deal, worth much more than €3.5 million per season, which is his current salary at Real.

Ramos is angry with Real Madrid chiefs for not having offered him a new contract and he is thought to be open to summer move to Stamford Bridge.

Ancelloti already has Branislav Ivanovic at right back, with the Serbia international also capable of playing more centrally, but the arrival of Sergio Ramos would definitely add more steel to Chelsea’s back line.

Should Sergio Ramos join Chelsea next summer, Jose Bosingwa would probably be allowed to leave.

Schalke sack Felix Magath

Bundesliga side Schalke have announced the sacking of coach Felix Magath with immediate effect.

Even though the team’s results have improved lately, the club officials decided to end their cooperation with Magath, without giving any specific reasons to back their decision.

The decision was made official after the supervisory board meeting, which Magath failed to attend.

“From the point of view of FC Schalke there are very good reasons for this parting. We will not communicate these publicly because judicial proceedings are now pending,” supervisory board chairman Clemens Tonnies stated.

Schalke officials hope to prove that Felix Magath violated the statues of the club as that would save them €12 million in compensation claims.

“We look forward to the process with confidence. The decision we have made is good for Schalke,” Tonnies added.

Felix Magath has utterly failed to fulfill the club’s ambition despite investing significant funds in new players, with some controversial January signings making his position untenable.

La Liga clubs chasing Luis Enrique

Barcelona B coach and club legend Luis Enrique announced that he would leave the club at the end of the season to seek for a new challenge.

The former Real and Barcelona star has been in charge of Barcelona B ever since Josep Guardiola was promoted to the senior side and he now believes it is the right time to accept one of the numerous offers from La Liga clubs.

Having successfully continued the work of Pep Guardiola, Luis Enrique is now seen as one of the most talented coaches in Spain and the odds are that we will be seeing him in La Liga next season.

The 40-year-old rejected an offer to take over at Mallorca last summer, but the Islanders could make another bid at the end of the season.

If Sporting Gijon decide to end cooperation with Manolo Preciado, Luis Enrique could be their number one choice as the Barcelona man never hid his dream to return to the club where it all started for him.

Getafe president Angel Torres is also thought to be keen and he is known as the man who likes to hand the reigns to former players, while Sevilla and Valencia could join the race as well.

Luis Enrique is seen as a future successor of Pep Guardiola, once the talented coach decides to leave Camp Nou, but he will need to prove his coaching credentials in one of the smaller La Liga teams before that happens.
