Chelsea stepping up interest in Cavani; Pastore hints at PSG exit

Chelsea stepping up interest in Cavani

Chelsea are prepared to step up their interest in Napoli striker Edinson Cavani, Daily Mail reveals.

Andre Villas-Boas is not satisfied with his options in attack, especially as Nicolas Anelka is set to leave and Didier Drogba will be absent due to his involvement in African Nations Cup.

With Fernando Torres still far from the desired form, the Chelsea boss is looking to add a quality striker to the squad in January.

According to Daily Mail, the Blues have made Napoli’s Edinson Cavani their number one target in January.

Chelsea scouts watched the Uruguayan on numerous occasions this season and Andre Villas-Boas is ready to pursue his interest in the player after receiving glowing reports from the scouting team.

Manchester City are also showing interest in the highly rated striker, but Chelsea have reportedly already contacted the player’s agent and are thought to be leading the race for Cavani’s signature.

Pastore hints at PSG exit

Argentine playmaker Javier Pastore has revealed his desire to join a ‘great’ club less than six months after arriving to Parc des Princes.

The 22-year-old arrived to PSG from Palermo in a €42 million move in the summer, but he has so far failed to justify the hefty price tag.

The player has been heavily criticized from the very start to the season and he recently revealed that he wasn’t feeling happy at Paris Saint-Germain.

The Argentine has now continued to irritate PSG fans by revealing his desire to join a great club in the future.

“I train with great conviction in order to achieve my dream of playing in a great team,” Pastore told Radio Radio.

“If I want to join a club bigger than PSG one day, it will depend on me.”

The 22-year-old scored 6 goals in 15 Ligue 1 games this season, but he was unable to help PSG make it to the next stage of Europa League.

Sevilla close in on Gio Dos Santos

Sevilla have agreed to sign Tottenham winger Giovani Dos Santos, according to Spanish daily Marca.

Los Rojiblancos have been tracking the former Barcelona forward for over a year now and the latest reports suggest that the chase is finally over.

The two clubs have opened negotiations few weeks ago, but the key meeting took place last Friday in London.

The player’s representative managed to persuade Tottenham chiefs into accepting Sevilla’s offer, which is reportedly close to €4 million.

All that’s left is for the player to agree personal term with the La Liga side, but it is now clear that the transfer will go through as soon as the transfer window reopens.

Spurs paid €11 million for the young Mexican last summer, but Harry Redknapp never gave the player a real chance to earn a starting berth at White Hart Lane.

The 22-year-old forward is now going to be given a fresh start at Sevilla and he will jump at the opportunity to kick-start his career.
