Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur’s David Bentley will not be joining big-spenders Manchester City before the transfer deadline, according to reports on Tuesday.

It had been suggested Eastlands club could make a move for the midfielder before 5pm. While, further reports have also claimed a swap deal involving City’s Bulgaria winger Martin Petrov could be in the offing.

But City have confirmed they have no intention of making any further signings this summer.

Bentley has endured a difficult time at White Hart Lane, with manager Harry Redknapp criticising him after his recent arrest for drink driving.

The 25-year-old has played just five minutes of Premier League football this season.
