Blackpool manager Ian Holloway is confident the club’s home game against Manchester United will go ahead on Saturday.
The Tangerines have not met their Lancashire neighbours in the league since the 1970s but the game could be in doubt as the Bloomfield Road pitch does not have any under-soil heating.
However, the turf has been covered as the club hired blow heaters when the weather worsened.
Holloway said: “Barring a big change for the worse in the weather I am happy the game will go on.”
“It is the fans’ big day and we want to put on a good show.”
“Things will not change on the field – it will be attack and attack from us.”
He said he had no special plans to deal with the Manchester United strike force which tore apart Blackburn Rovers last Saturday.
“We will not be man-marking Wayne Rooney as he plays too deep for that sort of thing. We are not going to be some sort of pushovers.”
Central defender Craig Cathcart will be marking players he trained with at United last season before moving to secure regular first team football.
Blackpool will be missing long-term absentees Marlon Harewood (hamstring), Chris Basham (leg), Louis Almond (shoulder) while Alex Baptiste, Billy Clarke, Matthew Gilks and Joe Martin are all out with knee problems.
