CONCACAF Champions League Wrap: Herediano thrash Valencia

Costa Rican club Herediano got off to the perfect start in the CONCACAF Champions League with a 6-1 rout of Valencia on Thursday.

Haiti’s Valencia were on the end of first-half goals from Herediano’s Ismael Gomez and Yendrick Ruiz, with the demolition continuing in the second half.

Victor Nunez Rodriguez, Jose Sanchez and Anllel Porras all scored, the latter four minutes after coming on as a substitute, with the sixth an own goal.

Roody Joseph scored for Valencia.

Pablo Herrera scored a hat-trick for Cartagines on a successful day for the Costa Rican sides.

The Primera Division runners-up coasted to a 4-2 win over El Salvador’s Isidro Metapan with Herrera getting on the score sheet on 40, 68 and 79 minutes.

Panama forward Humberto Ward scored the opening two goals for Arabe Unido in their 3-1 win over Trinidad and Tobagan outfit W Connection.
