Mexican side Santos moved into the CONCACAF Champions League semi-finals in emphatic fashion, beating the Seattle Sounders 6-1 on Wednesday.

Benjamin Galindo’s men trailed the MLS side 2-1 after the first leg in the United States, but they led on aggregate just 10 minutes into the second leg at Estadio Nuevo Corona.

Christian Suarez scored the first of his brace on eight minutes, before Oribe Peralta doubled their tally for the match two minutes later as Santos went ahead 3-2 overall.

Seattle’s Alvaro Fernandes pulled one back to leave the tie evenly poised at 3-3 with one half to play.

It took just four minutes after the interval for Santos to regain their advantage, as Herculez Gomez got his first goal for the contest.

Gomez’s second on 68 minutes all but sealed Santos’ progression to the final four, before Suarez’s second and a Carlos Ochoa goal completed the rampant victory.

Toronto advanced past fellow MLS side LA Galaxy 4-3 on aggregate, after their 2-1 away victory at The Home Depot Center.

Aron Winter’s side needed a result in Los Angeles after their home leg ended 2-2, and they got the ideal opening when Jamaican Ryan Johnson scored on 34 minutes to put them ahead in the match and on aggregate.

When Toronto defender Ty Harden got the last touch into his own net 10 minutes after the interval, Galaxy had equalised in the leg and gone ahead in the tie.

But Dutch striker Nick Soolsma stepped up to put Toronto ahead for good in the 67th minute, with goalscorer Johnson getting the assist.

Santos and Toronto will face one another across two legs for a spot in the final.
