Fluminense moved a step closer to the knockout stages of the Copa Libertadores on Wednesday with a 1-0 home win over Venezuelan side Zamora.

A goal from defender Anderson 13 minutes into the second half was enough for the home team at the Estadio Olimpico Joao Havelange in Rio de Janeiro, and they moved five points clear on top of Group Four.

Elsewhere in Group Four, Boca Juniors won their all-Argentine showdown with Arsenal 2-1 to move into second place in the group.

A Clemente Rodriguez own goal handed Arsenal the lead in front of their home supporters, but Boca hit back hard in the second half, with goals from Pablo Mouche and Pablo Ledesma sealing a vital three points.

With three games gone, Fluminense hold the ascendancy in Group Four with nine points, ahead of Boca Juniors (four) and Arsenal (three) with Zamora (one) still without a win.

In Group Six, Mexican club Cruz Azul maintained their two-point buffer over Corinthians at the top of the standings after the two clubs played out a goalless draw in Mexico City.

And Paraguayans Libertad still hold sway in Group Five after drawing 1-1 with Vasco da Gama in Asuncion.

Vasco took the lead after 17 minutes through Diego Souza, but a 71st-minute strike from Jose Nunez secured a point for the home side, and they hold a three-point lead over the Brazilian club on top of the group.
