Corinthians president Roberto de Andrade will try to sign Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez on loan in January.

The Brazilian giants have long been after the 27-year-old, who has been frozen out of City’s squad after allegedly refusing to come on as a substitute in a Champions League match against Bayern Munich in September.

Corinthians had a 35 million pounds offer for Tevez rejected by City in the summer, but Andrade has guaranteed the club will not try to sign the Argentine on a permanent basis this time around.

“We are interested in Tevez because he is a great player,” he told SporTV.

“We will contact City this month, our wish is that they let him go on loan.”

“City’s mistake was that they did not accept (our 35m pounds bid), they missed out on a great opportunity.”

“Nowadays, they will not be able to get half of what was offered back then.”

Last week, City coach Roberto Mancini warned all interested clubs that the Premier League side would not listen to loan offers for the 27-year-old.

AC Milan are also in the race for the Argentina international as they look for a replacement for Antonio Cassano, who is recovering from heart surgery.
