Courtois keen to extend Atletico stay

Chelsea-owned goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has revealed his intention to stay at Atletico Madrid for another season.

The young Belgian, whose current loan deal expires at the end of the current campaign, has told Chelsea of his desire to remain in La Liga but added that a deal has not been struck yet.

“Chelsea know that I want to stay, but I just have to wait. In a month or two we’ll know,” Courtois said at a press conference ahead of Atletico’s last-16 first-leg Europa League clash against Besiktas on Thursday.

“I don’t know what will happen with the Chelsea manager situation. At the moment, all I care about is Atletico.”

Courtois has made 30 appearances for Atletico in all competitions this season, keeping 16 clean sheets.
