Wigan manager Owen Coyle believes that striker Arouna Kone will leave the club in the next few days.

Kone is thought to be on the verge of a move to Everton and Coyle admitted that it is likely the Ivorian will complete a transfer to Goodison Park this week.

“I’m led to believe through his representative that Everton is the club he wants to join,” Coyle told BBC Radio 5 live.

Kone scored 11 goals in his debut Premier League season as Wigan won the FA Cup but also suffered relegation to the Championship.

“It’s not rocket science to say that Arouna Kone will probably leave at some point this week. There have been a number of offers in for him,” Coyle continued.

“There is no problem, he goes with our blessing because I need players who need to be at Wigan. If his heart’s elsewhere then he’s no good to me.”

If Kone was to complete a move to Everton he would link up with former Wigan boss Roberto Martinez.

The Spaniard joined Everton in June after David Moyes moved to Manchester United.
