Marseille coach Didier Deschamps believes his players must not get carried away after Tuesday’s Coupe de la Ligue quarter-final win.

First-half goals from Mathieu Valbuena and Loic Remy, coupled with Mathieu Valbuena’s strike just minutes before the restart, gave Marseille a 3-0 victory at Caen and a semi-final berth.

“We came here looking for the qualification, we obtained it, it was very good,” he told reporters.

“It is not necessary to be over-excited about it.”

“We gave a good account of ourselves and we did good things. Caen missed some players, but that does not take away the merit of our players, who played seriously.”

“We had control of the game. I chose a team that had technical advantage. We had a lot of mobility.”

Marseille, who are sixth in Ligue 1, host Lille on Sunday as the French championship resumes after the winter break.
