Dinamo sign star trio from Anzhi; West Ham join chase for Cardozo

Dinamo Moscow have completed the signing of Igor Denisov, Aleksandr Kokorin and Yuri Zhirkov from Anzhi, club president Gennady Solovyov has confirmed.

The Russian giants decided to move for the star trio after Anzhi owner Suleyman Kerimov announced that star players could be leaving this summer due to budget cuts.

Dinamo quickly managed to agree an undisclosed fee for the Russian internationals, who will be officially unveiled at a press conference on Friday.

“You will be able to see Kokorin, Denisov and Zhirkov at the Dinamo training ground as early as Friday,” club vice-president Solovyov told newspaper Izvestia.

“The new players will be presented there.”

The interesting thing is forward Aleksandr Kokorin had only joined Anzhi from Dinamo this summer, but is now leaving the club from Makhachkala without making a single appearance.

Denisov left Zenit to sign for the free-spending club in June, whereas Yuri Zhirkov was one of first high-profile players to arrive in Makhachkala.

West Ham join chase for Cardozo

Portuguese newspaper A Bola has learned that West Ham are the latest club to have joined the race for Benfica striker Oscar Cardozo.

The Hammers are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements after Carlton Cole, Marouane Chamakh and Wellington Paulista all left the club this summer.

According to A Bola, the Boleyn Ground outfit have set their sights on Paraguay international Oscar Cardozo.

It is no secret Benfica are looking to cash in on the 30-year-old after he clashed with boss Jorge Jesus, but they have so far had no success.

After the forward’s move to Fenerbahce fell through, a number of high-profile sides have expressed interest in his services, but it remains to be seen if the €15 million asking price is going to prove a stumbling block.

Oscar Cardozo has ensured his name is written in Benfica’s history books, having scored 105 goals in 160 league appearances for the Eagles.

Jeffren on Espanyol radar

Catalan daily Sport is reporting that Espanyol are considering a move for Sporting Lisbon winger Jeffren Suarez.

Los Periquitos are bracing themselves for life without star midfielder Wakaso Mubarak and have in turn expressed their interest in the 25-year-old footballer.

Jeffren could be interested in a return to Catalunya, especially considering he has spent much of his early career in Barcelona.

Even with his agent stating the player would prefer a move abroad, a move to Cornella El Prat remains a realistic possibility.

Jeffren has long been on the fringes at Estadio Jose Alvalade and the Lions are looking to get rid of him this summer.

The winger has two years left on his deal with Sporting, but the Portuguese giants are even considering rescinding his contract.
