Los Angeles Galaxy aim to secure a semi-final place in the CONCACAF Champions League when they host Toronto FC on Wednesday.
After going 2-0 behind in Canada, a Mike Magee goal and a last-minute equaliser from Landon Donovan ensured parity ahead of the second leg.
“Well there aren’t too many opportunities like this [the CONCACAF Champions League]. After this round it’s possible that there will be only one MLS team left in the competition so we want to do our club proud, we want to do our league proud, and if we have the opportunity to do something special we want to take advantage of it,” attacking midfielder Landon Donovan said.
Despite the match being soured by a Toronto fan attempting to throw a beer can at David Beckham, the 47,000-strong crowd created a fantastic atmosphere inside the Rogers Center.
Donovan is confident that Galaxy fans will do the same, as LA look to become the first MLS side to win the CONCACAF Champions League since 2000, when Galaxy won.
“Well they (Toronto) certainly started well, and you can at least partially attribute that to the crowd. Tomorrow night will be loud, it won’t be the same type of environment, but it will be loud, our fans will be loud. It will be a good night, not quite the same but we need to make sure that we use it to our advantage this time.”
