Catalan Dragons have taken American football player Brent Calloway on a week-long trial.
The 22-year-old former University of Alabama running back is set to be assessed on his rugby league skills before the Super League side decide whether to offer him a contract.
And chief executive Christophe Jouffret is excited by the prospect of welcoming an athlete from another sport to the club.
“It’s interesting to work with him and to give him the opportunity to show his qualities,” he said. “We’ll take a decision at the end of the week.
“He will train with our reserves this week and will have physical and technical tests with the staff.
“It’s interesting to gauge the capacity to adapt to the rugby league for an athlete coming from another sport.”
The Dragons were eliminated by St Helens at the semi-final stage of this year’s Super League.
