Elia unhappy with Juve treatment

Eljero Elia has voiced his dismay at the way he was treated during his spell at Juventus in 2011/12.

The Netherlands international joined the Turin giants from Hamburg last year, but was largely ignored by coach Antonio Conte and featured only sparsely during his one season with the Serie A champions.

The 25-year-old therefore opted to leave the club for Werder Bremen earlier in the off-season, but the move only materialised after he had made a big sacrifice.

“Every player was entitled to a new Ferrari or a 200,000 bonus after we won the Scudetto. However, Juventus forced me to renounce that right before they allowed me to join Bremen,” Elia told Sport Bild.

“The coach never spoke to me. He did not utter a single word to me all year. He completely ignored me. I have never ever experienced anything like that. It was very frustrating for me.”

Elia made his Bundesliga debut for Bremen in last Friday’s 2-1 loss against titleholders Borussia Dortmund.
