Eliseu wants Benfica move

Malaga full-back Eliseu Pereira dos Santos has moved to confirm reports linking him with a summer switch to Benfica.

The La Liga side are struggling to make ends meet and they have already seen Salomon Rondon and Apono leave the club, with more high-profile players expected to follow.

Portuguese defender Eliseu was recently linked with a return to Primeira Liga, and he confirms his interest in joining Benfica.

“Of course I would like to go, I would enjoy playing for Benfica,” the player was quoted as saying in Record.

“But it won’t be easy, because Malaga are not willing to release me without a fight.”

Eliseu began his professional career at Belenenses, but moved to Malaga in the summer of 2007.

After spending two very successful seasons at La Rosaleda, the 28-year-old was purchased by Lazio, but he returned to the La Liga side just one year later.

Eliseu has scored a total of 16 goals in 133 league appearances for los Boquerones.
