England have called up Middlesbrough defender David Wheater and Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart as late additions to their squad for Wednesday's World Cup qualifier with Belarus here.

The pair flew straight to Minsk late on Tuesday after helping the England Under-21 side reach next summer's European Championship finals in Sweden at the expense of Wales.

They were set to join up with Fabio Capello's squad for a training session on the morning of the match.

Wheater comes in as cover at centreback — where England are without injured captain John Terry — while Hart's inclusion follows the withdrawal of West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green.
