Roma manager Luis Enrique was in a buoyant mood after Roma beat Lecce 2-1 with goals from Miralem Pjanic and Fernando Gago.

Roma had dominated with many chances during the Serie A clash but had to settle for a narrow win against Lecce after striker Pablo Daniel Osvaldo’s bicycle kick was incorrectly ruled offside.

“I am satisfied with both performance and result, which I think was very slender considering all that we created,” said Luis Enrique.

“You have to put the ball in the net for it to count, but I saw the team is improving. Knowing how to suffer under pressure is also an important quality.”

“It’s a terrible shame for Osvaldo, as he played a very complete game today and I am told the goal was valid. It was an incredible finish,” said Enrique.

Enrique was quick to turn his attention to a difficult run coming up for his side, with Roma’s next matches coming against Udinese, Fiorentina, Juventus and Napoli.

“Today our real journey begins and we next face Udinese, a very strong side,” said Enrique.

“Will the next four matches decide our potential? No, because if we win those and then lose all the others, we’ll be in Serie B.”

“There is a lot of work to be done and we want to be a great side. I want to see this performance for the whole season.”
