Feyenoord thrashed Vitesse 4-0 on the road in the Eredivisie while Groningen also won on Sunday.

Feyenoord started the match in Arnhem brilliantly and needed only four minutes to open the scoring.

The Vitesse defence allowed John Guidetti too much space and the young Swede found the net with a calm finish.

Ron Vlaar then doubled Feyenoord’s lead at the half-hour mark when he headed home a Jordy Clasie free kick before Guidetti made it three with a tap-in.

Manchester City loanee Guidetti shrugged off his direct opponent before setting up Sekou Cisse for Feyenoord’s fourth in the 56th minute.

Utrecht scored a penalty in the closing stages against ADO Den Haag to make it 2-2 after Lex Immers had put the home side ahead.

Daan Bovenberg scored the opener for Utrecht on 10 minutes but his goal was cancelled out by Charlton Vicento in the 30th minute before Immers’s stunning volley put Den Haag ahead.

Christian Kum gave away a penalty when he handled inside the area with Leon de Kogel firing home from the spot to salvage a draw.

Groningen fought back to defeat 10-man VVV Venlo after Yanic Wildschut found the net with a calm finish 16 minutes into the first half.

VVV were dealt a huge blow when the Andrea Mei was dismissed for a foul on Dusan Tadic as the referee pointed to the spot. Leandro Bacuna stepped up and made it 1-1.

Serbian winger Tadic continued to cause headaches for the VVV defence and beat his man to set up David Texeira on 51 minutes to calmly slot home and make it 2-1.

The match between Excelsior and ladder leaders AZ Alkmaar was called off at half-time due to fog with the scores 0-0.
