(GSM) – Sven-Goran Eriksson has left his post as Ivory Coast manager after their exit from the World Cup. The Africans finished behind Brazil and Portugal in Group G to crash-out of the tournament from the group stages.

The Swedish tactician signed a short-term contract only three months ago and has been expected to leave the duty right after the tournament. Eriksson has traveled a lot since he left England’s bench having coached Manchester City, Mexico and Notts County before turning in for the Ivory Coast job.

The 62-year-old recently sounded out his interest in filling the Liverpool post after Rafa Benitez left Anfield. Eriksson admitted that he had always planned that he would walk away from the Ivorian post once the Elephants were eliminated.

And after seeing his team exit from the group stages despite a 3-0 win over North Korea, Eriksson had decided to quit Ivory Coast and is hoping to find another job soon.

“It was clear when I took the job that it was until the end of our World Cup and that’s today,” said Eriksson, who admitted he did not know what his next move would be.

“I’ll stay (at the World Cup) some days looking at the football and then I’ll probably go taking some holiday,” he added.

“Then, we’ll see. I don’t know – something, hopefully.”
