Inter Milan has received some welcome news with striker Diego Forlan nearing a comeback from injury.

The Uruguayan has been on the sidelines since October when he suffered a muscular problem while on international duty.

However, the Nerazzurri have announced that Forlan has returned to the training pitch and is close to making his comeback.

Forlan featured in a training game on Wednesday without any significant problems before continuing with an individual practice session, although he remains in doubt for Saturday’s Serie A match at home against third-placed Udinese.

The 32-year-old joined Inter from Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window but has so far been unable to make an impact due to injury, making only five appearances and scoring just one goal.
