Tipped by many as the favorites to win the tournament outright, France will kick off their Group C campaign when they meet Australia at the Kazan’ Arena on Saturday morning.

For Didier Deschamps’ France side, after reaching the final of Euro 2016 before being beaten by Portugal, The Blues impressed during qualifying and topped Group A in empathic form. While they are coming off the back of a 1-1 draw with USA, France have only lost one in their last 14 and Deschamps has an incredibly talented squad to call upon. While Antoine Griezmann is arguably their talisman, one man to watch is 19-year-old Kylian Mbappe, the PSG teenager has three in his last four for France.

For Bert van Marwijk’s side, while the Yellows are coming off the back of a 2-1 win over Hungary in their final build-up match, it appears that Australia, who’s talisman is Huddersfield midfielder Aaron Mooy, will struggle against a powerful France side. Given none of their defenders ply their trade in any of Europe’s top tiers, along with loosing 6-0 last time the two sides met, Australia have struggled when up against some of the world elite. In the past 12 months, Marwijk’s side have now conceded two or more goals against Japan, Germany, Brazil and Norway.
