Borussia Dortmund face Nuremberg in the Bundesliga on Saturday, but German star Mario Gotze will start on the bench.

The 20-year-old featured in his side’s Bundesliga opener, scoring the winning goal in their 2-1 victory over Werder Bremen, but it failed to guarantee him a place in Jurgen Klopp’s starting line-up.

Gotze will hope to have the same impact this weekend, as he looks to prove himself worthy of being a prominent figure in his manager’s first team plans.

“Mario is a very strong player and has trained very well this week. If possible, he will play longer than in the match against Bremen,” Klopp told Bild.

After niggling injuries to his hip, which hindered his progress last season, Gotze will hope to gain a regular place in Dortmund’s side this campaign as they aim to retain the Bundesliga title.

“I’m 100 percent fit. I will display it. I hope that I get more confidence from the coach.” Gotze said.
