Lyon midfielder Clement Grenier has said that victory against Dijon in Ligue 1 this weekend is crucial, as they look to keep up with leaders PSG.

Lyon were French national champions seven years in a row from 2002 to 2008, but find themselves eight points behind the Parisians in top spot.

Grenier, 21, also said that he was happy with his own personal progress, as he looks to become a permanent fixture in Remi Garde’s first team.

“It will be a very important game after our defeat against Montpellier in the League. We have to bounce back at home. It’s important for us. We must get the three points. It’s the beginning of a series of many games. It will be important to have a good start,” Grenier said.

“I don’t know if my career has gone from strength to strength. I played many games at the beginning of the season. But now, I don’t know. I’m trying to be good. I work hard for it.”

“I am doing all I can to play well and be competitive when I am in the pitch. Little by little, I will get better. But I have a lot of things to learn.”
