Iran international goalkeeper Alireza Haghighi has officially put pen to paper on a four-year contract with Russian outfit Rubin Kazan.
The 23-year-old ‘keeper, who becomes the first Iranian to play for a Russian
club, joins from Tehran-based outfit Persepolis for an undisclosed fee.
However, according to Persepolis chairman Mohammad Rouyanian, the contract is
worth 950,000 euros.
Haghighi was said to be on Rubin’s radar in December and officially left
Persepolis last week for Russia.
Haghighi is the third-choice goalkeeper for the Iranian national team, but is billed as a key prospect for Carlos Queiroz’s side.
