Hamburg swoop for Van der Vaart; Van der Wiel talks up PSG move

Hamburg swoop for Van der Vaart

German newspaper Bild have revealed that Hamburger SV have agreed a €13 million deal to sign midfielder Rafael van der Vaart from Tottenham Hotspur.

The Dutch international has already flown to Germany to have a medical, with the transfer expected to be completed well before the transfer deadline.

The Bundesliga side have spent much of the summer trying to agree a deal for their former midfielder and Bild reports they have finally reached an agreement with Tottenham.

Spurs were looking to offload a couple of senior players following the arrivals of Jan Vertonghen, Emmanuel Adebayor and Gylfi Sigurdsson, and they managed to get a substantial amount for the 29-year-old.

The experienced midfielder returns to Hamburg following a four-year absence and is tipped to make a real impact at Imtech Arena.

Rafael van der Vaart managed to kick-start his career at Tottenham, following a somewhat disappointing spell with Real Madrid, and has scored a total of 24 goals in 63 Premier League games for Spurs.

Van der Wiel talks up PSG move

Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel has revealed that he is on the verge of completing a switch to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Saints have spent the entire summer looking for a new right-sided defender and it seems they have finally found their man.

Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant claims Paris Saint-Germain are close to reaching an agreement with Ajax over the talented defender.

The player himself now confesses that he is prepared to leave Ajax for the French giants.

“Paris Saint-Germain are a wonderful club with a lot of ambition. I’ve had a great time at Ajax, but the time has come to move on,” Van der Wiel explained to De Volkskrant.

“I’ve won two Eredivisie titles, a KNVB Beker and have played in the Champions League. I need a new challenge.”

The Netherlands international has just one year left on his deal at Amsterdam ArenA, and it is believed Ajax are holding out for €6 million.

The 24-year-old has spent his entire career at Ajax, making 130 Eredivisie appearances for the Dutch giants.

Napoli sign Bruno Uvini

Serie A giants Napoli have signed defender Bruno Uvini from Sao Paulo for an undisclosed fee, the Brazilian club have announced on their official website.

The Brazilian defender had been heavily linked with a summer move to Serie A, but the Azzurri had to beat several high-profile clubs to the player’s signature.

Sao Paulo have now revealed that the deal has been completed after the lengthy negotiations.

“It is a move which had been in the pipeline for a while,” Uvini said to club’s official website.

“It’s a good deal for the club and for me. It’s not easy to leave Sao Paulo because the club has been like my family but whenever I can I will come back to visit them.”

The 21-year-old has so far made just 9 senior appearances for Sao Paulo, but that didn’t stop him from earning three Brazil caps.

Following a loan spell with Tottenham, Uvini was called to Brazil’s 23-man squad for the 2012 Summer Olympics and has made one substitute appearance at the tournament finals.
