Marseille youngster Jordan Ayew said his extra effort over the past six months earned him a place in Ghana’s African Cup of Nations squad.
The 20-year-old has had an impressive campaign in Ligue 1 this season and has been rewarded with a spot in Ghana’s 25-man pre-tournament squad.
The younger brother of Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew, who also plays for the same club in France, said he hopes to give his best at his first Africa Cup of Nations.
“I have worked very hard this six months to be part of the squad and I did a very good work for the half of the season,” Ayew told MTNFootball.
“The Ghanaian fans are watching the Ligue 1 and I think it is my hard work which is now paying off so I must continue like this.”
“It’s my first Nations Cup so I can’t tell you much but I think if I’m going to a tournament, it is to have playing time and some experience.”
“So we will all go and give our 100 per cent.”
Ghana have been drawn in Group D alongside Botswana, Mali and Guinea for the tournament in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea
