Hart: England have been complacent

England goalkeeper Joe Hart has suggested that complacency has crept into Roy Hodgson’s squad.

The team’s 1-1 draw with Montenegro during the week has left them with an uphill battle to reach World Cup 2014.

With six matches played and 12 points gained, England currently occupy second place in Group H, two points behind Montenegro, who they face at Wembley later in the year.

And Hart believes England only have themselves to blame for failing to live up to the expectation of a country steeped in tradition of qualifying for major tournaments.

“It is a really tough thing to quality for a World Cup and you kind of take it a bit for granted,” he said.

“Playing at World Cups is what we expect as a nation. We are England and we should be qualifying for things but it is easier said than done.

“It’s going to be difficult but we aim to capitalise on the home games. Not qualifying isn’t even crossing our minds at the moment.

“We’ve got Montenegro to come at home and if we win all the games now we will finish top of the group.”
