Chelsea appear to have set their sights on luring Belgium international Eden Hazard in the January transfer window.

The Premier League club are reported to be prepared to offer 30 million pounds for last season’s Ligue 1 player of the year.

Chelsea are eager to strengthen their squad after a disappointing first half of the season, and manager Andre Villas-Boas sees the tricky Lille winger as the perfect addition to his attack.

However, Lille are keen to hold on to the 21-year-old until the end of the season, and are hoping to receive a transfer fee in the region of 40 million pounds.

Hazard is one of the most sought after players around in Europe, and has previously been linked with clubs such as Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Inter, Juventus, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

He stated earlier this season that he is ready to make the next step in his career after the 2011-12 campaign.
