Henry alert to Dallas threat

New York Red Bulls forward Thierry Henry believes his team will need to produce ‘something amazing’ to beat Dallas in the MLS play-offs.

Hans Backe’s men travel to Pizza Hut Park for the do-or-die wildcard match against a Dallas outfit that have won just two of their last 12 outings in all competitions.

Henry, who is returning from suspension for Wednesday’s clash after being sent off against Sporting Kansas City on October 15, said Dallas would provide formidable opposition.

“Winning is going to be a difficult task even though Dallas had a poor run. I think they’re still one of the best teams in this league,” he said on Tuesday.

“We are going to have to do something amazing to win there, but it is possible.”

The winner of the clash will progress to the two-legged semi-finals.

Meanwhile, Sporting Kansas City are awaiting the highest-seeded wild card winner for the first leg of their semi-final on Sunday.

They finished top of the Eastern Conference and forward Graham Zusi said they would not change their game for the play-offs.

“I think we need to focus on our game – just like we have for the past few months,” he said.

“It’s been us going into the game and knowing what we want to accomplish and doing just that.”

“I think if we go in with a game plan and worry about ourselves, we will put ourselves into a good position to advance into the next round.”

In Thursday’s wildcard clash, the Colorado Rapids host the Columbus Crew.

Meanwhile, the conference semi-finals begin on Saturday with the Philadelphia Union welcoming the Houston Dynamo and the Seattle Sounders visiting Real Salt Lake.
