Hero worship at Arsenal for Eisfeld

New Arsenal signing Thomas Eisfeld has described new team-mate Tomas Rosicky as his hero and cannot wait to begin training with him.

Eisfeld moved to Arsenal from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund – the same path which Czech midfielder Rosicky took in 2006 – for an undisclosed fee this week.

Like Rosciky, the 19-year-old also plays in midfield and has impressed with Dortmund’s Under-19 side this season, scoring six times and providing six assists in 12 appearances.

Now he has moved to north London, Eisfeld is looking forward to playing alongside Rosicky and other established names, such as on-loan veteran Thierry Henry.

“My hero was Tomas Rosicky. I have a picture of him in my room and it’s fantastic to play with him,” he told Arsenal’s official website.

“In my opinion, he’s a great player and I focus on his game. But I play a little bit differently. I think I can read the game very well and my technique is quite good.”

“I feel proud because to train with players like Thierry Henry is a dream of each player. It’s like a dream come true for me.”

Apart from his new team-mates, Eisfeld said manager Arsene Wenger’s record of bringing through young talent was another reason for him making the move to England.

“The trainer is great for young players,” he said.

“Mr Wenger said to me that I will get the chance to train with the first team and then it’s up to me if I play or I don’t play.”
