QPR captain Clint Hill has warned his team-mates of the difficulties they will face in the Championship next season.

The Loftus Road outfit have already been relegated from the Premier League and sit last in the table with just two matches to play.

It has been a miserable campaign for Harry Redknapp’s side, with a string of big-money signings failing to deliver the club top-flight football next season.

With the Championship renowned for its competitive nature, and a host of big clubs like Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday in the division, bouncing back into the Premier League will be a difficult ask for QPR.

And Hill is using the example of Wolves – who have plummeted from the Premier League to League One in consecutive seasons – to show his team-mates the challenge they face.

“If you haven’t got the right stuff and are not made of the right stuff then it is going to be a very difficult season (in the Championship),” Hill told QPR’s official website.

“We’ve seen that Wolves have gone down, they are a massive club and they are in League One now.

“There is going to be a lot of cutting of the cloth but we will see who comes in and who leaves and take it from there.”

QPR host Newcastle United in the Premier League on Sunday, before ending their season with a trip to Anfield to play Liverpool.
