Holden welcomes Ream to Bolton

Bolton midfielder Stuart Holden has hailed the club’s signing of fellow USA international Tim Ream from MLS side New York Red Bulls.

Holden, who is just returning from a lengthy injury absence, thinks defender Ream is tailor-made for the demands of the Premier League.

The 26-year-old hailed the new arrival’s communication and technical ability on the ball, and said he would be helping his compatriot settle in England.

“Tim is a very composed player who is good on the ball. He is an excellent communicator and a talented footballer in general,” Holden told Bolton’s official website.

“He will fit in well here and all the lads will help him get up to speed with the Premier League. When you look at Tim you can see that he is an athlete and that is one of the main requirements to play in English football.

“When he came into the training ground I told Tim that it was great to hear another American accent. I’ve been for some dinner with him and will try to help him settle here and show him around the area when I’m back from the US.”

“Tim’s a quiet and humble guy, but from our conversations he is just excited to be here. He really enjoyed his trial last year and he can’t wait to get going.”

Holden also came to the club from an MLS outfit, Houston Dynamo.

While both are now members of the USA national team, they are yet to play alongside each other internationally, but have faced off in domestic competition.

“I’ve never actually played with Tim, although I have played against him on a few occasions in the MLS,” Holden said.

“He has just broken into the US national team while I have been out injured, but speaking to the other guys in the squad, they all say that he has done very well and is destined for big things in the international game.”
