Juventus will have to make do without injured goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon for their Serie A opener at home to Parma on Saturday.
Italy international Buffon picked up a muscle injury in training earlier this week, and Juve have now confirmed he will not be match fit in time for Saturday’s curtain-raiser.
“Gigi Buffon has undergone MRI and ultrasound scans on his thigh after feeling some discomfort in Tuesday’s training session,” Juve said in a statement.
“The light injury will cause the 34-year-old to sit out Saturday’s opening championship fixture against Parma.”
Assistant coach Massimo Carrera will take charge of the Serie A champions in place of head coach Antonio Conte, who is serving a 10-month touchline ban for failing to report instances of match-fixing during his time at Siena.
