Inter win race for Palacio; Bayern close in on Pizarro

Inter win race for Palacio

Inter have reached an agreement with Genoa to sign forward Rodrigo Palacio, Il Corriere dello Sport understands.

The Neroazzurri started a search for a new forward after it had become clear that Diego Forlan would leave the club at the end of the season.

The Italian giants tried to sign Ezequiel Lavezzi from Napoli, but decided to switch their attention to Genoa’s Rodrigo Palacio after realizing that a move for Lavezzi would be very difficult to conclude.

Il Corriere dello Sport claims that Inter have already agreed to sign the Argentine forward, who will arrive to Milano later this week and sign a four-year deal subject to passing a medical.

Roma and Napoli were also in the race for the 30-year-old forward, but Inter’s excellent relations with Genoa helped them win the chase for the highly rated player.

Palacio has enjoyed the best season in his career, having scored 19 goals in 32 league games for Genoa even though his team have been fighting for Serie survival.

Bayern close in on Pizarro

German newspaper Bild claims Bayern Munich are on the verge of signing striker Claudio Pizarro from Werder Bremen.

The Peruvian striker confirmed on Tuesday that he would leave the club when his contract expired at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old was subsequently linked with Schalke and Borussia Dortmund, but it looks as though he will end up at Bayern instead.

According to Bild, the Peruvian and his representative Carlos Delgado were in Munich on Thursday to negotiate a possible move to Alianz Arena.

The German giants have already expressed their interest in the experienced forward and they hope to use him as a back-up for Mario Gomez.

Pizarro is a proven goalscorer and he has done brilliantly during his first spell at Bayern, while he would also come completely free of charge.

This season proved that the Peruvian still has what it takes to play at the highest level, having scored 18 goals in 29 Bundesliga games.

Sochaux star duo hints at summer departure

Sochaux stars Marvin Martin and Ryad Boudebouz have revealed they plan to quit les Lionceaux in the summer.

The two players are regarded as some of the most talented players in French Ligue 1 and they are followed by a number of high-profile sides.

After they helped Socxaux secure survival with three straight victories, Boudebouz and Martin moved to confirm reports that they will be leaving the club at the end of the season.

“Will I be leaving? This is not done, I still have a two-year contract, but my wish is to leave,” Boudebouz told reporters after the 1-0 win over Marseille.

Midfielder Martin, who is tipped to make France’s final Euro 2012 squad, is also looking to leave Stade Auguste-Bonal.

“I honestly do not know where I will go. For my future, we’ll see,” Martin told reporters.

The two midfielders have been in scintillating form this season and further established their reputation as the hottest prospects in French top flight.

Ryad Boudebouz scored 6 goals and produced 7 assists in 36 league games, whereas Martin bagged 2 and set up 8 goals in 33 Ligue 1 appearances.
