Chile continued their preparations for the next round of World Cup qualifiers with a 3-1 victory over Peru in Santiago.
Chilean striker Esteban Paredes put the home side in front in the 5th minute when his powerful drive found the bottom corner from a tight angle.
Peru hit back when John Galliquio finished smartly in a crowded penalty area after 21 minutes.
But Chile were back in front two minutes before the break when Enza Andia took advantage of a terrible mistake from Peru’s goalkeeper to tap the ball into the net.
Salomon Libman came off his line to try and punch a cross clear but failed to make proper contact and Andia was there to collect the loose ball and score.
Chile rounded out the win in the 86th minute when Eugenio Mena cleverly chipped Libman after running onto a long pass.
The home side should have had four goals but Paredes failed to convert a penalty in the 59th minute.
The 31-year-old striker chipped the ball straight down the middle, hoping the ball would float over a diving Libman but Peru’s goalkeeper stayed on his feet and saved easily.
Chile is fifth in the South American World Cup qualifying standings and travel to Bolivia for their next qualifier on June 2, while eighth-placed Peru will host Colombia.
In Wednesday’s other international friendly, Jamaica and Costa Rica played out a 0-0 draw in Kingston.
