Liverpool made a strong start in the transfer market this summer, signing Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz, and Hugo Ekitike, and it seems they aim to finish just as they started – with several notable additions more.
According to several rather reliable sources, including the likes of Paul Joyce, David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano, the Merseysiders are currently pushing to complete a deal for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi. The England international has already accepted their offer regarding personal terms, and with less than 12 months left on his contract, Palace will not stand in his way and are expected to accept a total package worth up to £35million.
Also, Liverpool are in advanced talks with Parma over 18-year-old centre-back Geovanni Leoni, who is also keen on moving to Anfield. There have been reports suggesting the young Italian would remain at Parma on loan for 2025/26, but Romano is adamant that wouldn’t be the case – Leoni would come straight into Arne Slot’s squad.
With Jarell Quansah sold to Bayer Leverkusen and Ibrahima Konate still appearing reluctant to sign a new contract (he also has less than a year on his current deal), adding both Guehi and Leoni to their ranks would surely help Liverpool greatly as they fight on several fronts during the upcoming season.
Meanwhile, the departures of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, along with the tragedy of Diogo Jota, have left Liverpool with just three senior forwards (Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo and Hugo Ekitike), together with 19-year-old Leeds-linked Ben Doak and 16-year-old Rio Ngumoha. The Premier League champions have already tried to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle but saw their record-breaking bid rejected.
However, it seems things have changed on that front since, with Magpies boss Eddie Howe now saying he only wants players who want to play for Newcastle in his team, and Isak is said to have informed the club he would NOT be playing for them again. Liverpool, thought to be the preferred destination for the 25-year-old Sweden international, are now expected to bid again.
