Jubilo Iwata handed Kashiwa Reysol a 6-1 belting in the J.League on Sunday, while Avispa Fukuoka were also surprise winners.
Masaaki Yanagishita’s team moved into sixth with a tremendous performance that saw them net four times in the second half at the Yamaha Stadium.
Midfielder Shuto Yamamoto put the hosts up after 33 minutes, but the teams looked to be headed into the break on level terms after Brazilian Jorge Wagner’s equaliser.
But defender Yoshiaki Fujita pleased the home fans when he put Jubilo Iwata back in front two minutes prior to the break.
The second half turned into a procession as Rodrigo Souto hit a brace before goals from Hidetaka Kanazono and Minoru Suganuma saw the second-placed Kashiwa belted.
Elsewhere, bottom side Avispa Fukuoka had midfielder Hisashi Jogo to thank as his late double gave them a 2-1 win over Kawasaki Frontale.
Forward Yu Kobayashi had given the visitors the lead on 25 minutes before Jogo’s heroics.
Urawa Reds held on to a 3-2 win over Albirex Niigata despite conceding two second-half penalties.
Genki Haraguchi, Mitsuru Nagata and Naoki Yamada all netted for the Reds, enough to beat penalties from Brazilian pair Michael and Bruno Lopes.
