Jose Mourinho is keen on returning to Real Madrid as the Spanish club’s manager, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Athletic has reported that Madrid president Florentino Perez is personally keen on bringing Mourinho back to Estadio Bernabeu.
Mourinho, who was the Madrid manager between 2010 until 2013, is in charge of Benfica at the moment.
Well-known and well-respected Italian journalist Romano has revealed that Mourinho himself is keen on a return to Madrid.
Romano said on X: “Jose Mourinho remains keen on Real Madrid return as reported two weeks ago.
“Florentino Pérez will decide personally; JM, among 4 candidates for the job.
“Benfica want José to stay; there’s €6m gross break clause only valid until final days of May.”
Alvaro Arbeloa is in charge of Madrid at the moment, with the Spaniard having been appointed Los Blancos manager in January 2026 following the departure of Xabi Alonso.
