Stevan Jovetic has revealed he rejected interest from Serie A champions Juventus in order to join Manchester City.

The Montenegro international moved to City from Fiorentina in July for a fee reported to be in the region of £22million.

Jovetic enjoyed an excellent season at the Stadio Artemio Franchi last term and was reported to have attracted the attention of a number of clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea and Juventus.

The 23-year-old confirmed the Turin outfit had contacted his representative, but stressed that he is enjoying life with Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

“Yes, Juventus did want me. They talked with my agent. Actually they talked a lot more with him than with me,” he said.

“Coming to Manchester has been easy, the lads have been really helpful, mainly (Matija) Nastasic, (Aleksandar) Kolarov and (Edin) Dzeko, but the others as well.”

City were beaten 2-1 by Bayern Munich in the final of the Audi Cup on Thursday following their 5-3 success over Milan in the pre-season tournament on Wednesday.

Jovetic has been pleased with City’s preparations for the new campaign, but is aware there is more work to be done.

“I’ve been really pleased with these two matches, of what I consider a very important tournament,” he added.

“I’m sure we have plenty of room for improvement.”
