Juan Mata on Atletico radar

El Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Atletico Madrid are weighing up a January swoop for Manchester United midfielder Juan Manuel Mata.

The Spaniard only joined the Red Devils in January, but he is likely to struggle for playing time following the arrival of Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao.

Atletico Madrid seem ready to take advantage of the situation and offer Mata the chance to return to Spanish La Liga, although the deal taking the Spain international to Vicente Calderon is not going to be easy.

Having surprisingly found himself surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, the 26-year-old could face a similar destiny at Old Trafford, and there is a good chance he would be interested in a switch back to La Liga.

Juan Mata has scored 8 goals in 20 Premier League matches since arriving from Chelsea, but he was left out of the starting line-up in weekend’s 5-3 defeat to Leicester City.
