July 19th: Wednesday’s Daily Double – 3/1 Special, Tips & Predictions

With Europe’s elite all getting their pre-season preparations underway, we are treated to another stacked schedule from both Europe and Asia.

So, for those of you looking to stick on a Wednesday flutter, we have found a couple of intriguing tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.

16:30 Jaro vs Gnistan

Watching their Ykkonen purple patch come to an abrupt end thanks to a disappointing 1-0 loss away at Ekenas last weekend, Gnistan will certainly be seeking an immediate response here. Still leading the chase at the top of the second-tier standings, Wednesday’s guests will be smelling the chance to make a statement in midweek.

Tipped as a leading promotion contender in 2023 and hoping to widen their buffer over the chasing pack, Joonas Rantanen’s men should still find the mood in their camp at a continued high.

Remarkably suffering just a single Ykkonen defeat from their 14 second-tier appearances this season, Gnistan will be excited by a trip to Jakobstad on Wednesday afternoon.

Still mustering 15 points from their last six Ykkonen outings, Rantanen’s side are rightfully seen as a standout pick here.

Crashing back down to earth last weekend thanks to a woeful 4-0 drumming at the hands of TPS Turku, the midweek hosts are enduring what has been a real Ykkonen struggle this season.

Already sat eight points adrift of breaking into the top-half and seen as a genuine relegation contender in 2023, the Reds have picked up just a sole win from any of their last five second-tier showdowns.

With that extended wobble highlighted by a 3-1 defeat against Jaro last month, Stephen Ward’s side should also be concerned by the last time that Wednesday’s guests visited town.

Watching Gnistan claim a routine 2-0 victory when they last travelled to the Centralplan 13 months ago, we are expecting a similar outcome here.

18:30 Al Ahly vs Haras El Hodood

Breezing their way to yet another domestic crown this season, Al Ahly have certainly written themselves into Premier League folklore in 2023. Riding what has been another stellar wave of momentum this year, the Egyptian heavyweights will simply be looking to keep up their purple patch in midweek.

Last seen putting in a rampant performance as they claimed a 4-1 victory at home against Zamalek, Marcel Koller’s men have only continued to gain a string of plaudits this season.

Remarkably not suffering a single Premier League defeat from any of their 30 top-flight appearances this year, the Cairo-based giants have also gained a reputation for their rugged displays at the back.

It should be noted, along with conceding just a single strike in their last seven straight matchups across all competitions, the one-time Austria boss has also seen his high-flying squad ship only eight Premier League goals this season.

On the flip side, while Al Ahly might have eased their way to more domestic history in 2023, Haras El Hodood have free-fallen their way out of Egypt’s top-flight after what has been a nightmare campaign.

Sat rock-bottom of the Premier League standings and coming under a huge amount of scrutiny this season, Wednesday’s guests have recorded just a single win from their last five matchups across all competitions.

With Al Ahly landing a routine 3-0 win when they travelled to Alexandria back on June 22nd, it is hard to see anything other than a repeat outcome here.
