Kagawa delays transfer decision

Borussia Dortmund’s Shinji Kagawa will wait until after the DFB Pokal final on May 12 before making a decision on his future.

The 23-year-old is said to be targeted by Premier League giants Manchester United, who have reportedly offered a salary of six-million euro per season.

Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke revealed earlier this week that Kagawa is no longer unsellable after the player balked on signing a contract extension.

“I haven’t made a decision yet,” Kagawa told Bild when asked where he will play next season. “At the earliest it will be after the (Pokal) final.

“I’ve listened a lot to the supporters and to my team-mates, and I’m really touched by what I’ve heard. I’ll make my decision only after discussing things carefully with my agent.”

The Japan international also denied that bad blood remained between him and team-mate Robert Lewandowski after German media published quotes from a Nikkei interview that appeared to accuse the Pole of selfishness.

“I was surprised that my interview was printed in this form,” Kagawa said. “Some of what was written was incorrect, but I’ve learned from what happened.

“I’ve already talked to (Lewandowski) about it personally, and the matter’s been settled for both of us.”
