Reading midfielder Jem Karacan would be “as happy as ever” if he is still at the club next season.

Karacan, 24, bagged his first Premier League goal in the club’s 4-2 win at Fulham on Saturday.

Reading have already been relegated from the top flight but the Turkish midfielder, who has started 19 times this season since returning from a serious knee injury, has impressed.

The Madejski Stadium outfit established a partnership with Turkish Super Lig giants Galatasaray earlier this year and Karacan has again been linked with a move to the club.

But he laughed off those reports, suggesting he was more focused on helping Reading win promotion back to the Premier League next season.

“It (rumours of a switch to Galatasaray) happens every year and I keep getting bugged about it,” Karacan told the Bracknell Forest Standard.

“I’m a Reading player though. I signed a deal last summer and everyone wants to play in the best league in the world and it’s gutting to not have that next year.

“Anything can happen in the summer. I’m a Reading player and I will be as happy as ever if I’m still here.

“Reading is a Premier League club and we know we should be there and we will try our hardest to get back up.”
