Malaysian Super League defending champions Kelantan FA have set the 2012 AFC Cup’s as their main target alongside domestic titles.

Kelantan won their domestic by three points from Terengganu last season and have set their sights on continental success this season.

And Kelantan president Tan Sri Annuar Musa believes the club has a good enough squad to challenge in the AFC Cup, Asia’s second-tier competition.

“We have been one of the better local teams over the past few seasons. It is only natural that we aim higher this season,” Annuar told AFF.

“The AFC Cup is a new competition for Kelantan but despite the inexperience, we expect our team to make an immediate impact.”

In order to realise their ambition, Kelantan have signed four foreign players, including Mohammed Ghaddar and Zakaria Charara, both of whom are members of the Lebanon national team.

“We have signed four foreign players just to be competitive in this tournament,” Annuar said.

In the 2012 AFC Cup, Kelantan will compete in Group H together with Indonesia’s Arema FC, Vietnam’s Navibank Saigon, and Myanmar’s Ayeyawady United.
