Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is willing to let defender Alan Hutton leave the club on loan.

The Scotland right-back joined the Midlands outfit from Tottenham in 2011 and started 29 games in the Premier League last season.

However, the 27-year-old is yet to make an appearance for the Villans this term, with Eric Lichaj gaining more first-team exposure after breaking through last season and new signing Matthew Lowton, who scored against Swansea City over the weekend, also featuring.

Lambert confirmed that the former Rangers man is free to open talks with clubs over a prospective loan move and insists the player is aware he is surplus to requirements.

“There could be a chance of him going out on loan,” Lambert said.

“I’ve told him that if there is something there then he can look at it. I’ve always been honest with him.

“I think that is the best way of being honest with people. He knows the situation.”

Villa picked up their first win of the Premeir League season against Swansea on Saturday.
